We start the day with a visit at The Swatch Group in Stockholm, SWEDEN.
Here we started
a private tour, me and Tony
by
Claes Nilsson, who started
with
watchmakers
where the
service or repairs
made by the
brands
that The Swatch Group
itself does in
Sweden.
The watchmakers working at full speed for us to get back our watches as quickly as possible.
The final assembly of a Rado.
They boast a pompous spare parts.
The boxes will never end.
Parts to the most brands in The Swatch Group.
Then it was time to put us at school and undergo an Omega training.
It started
with a historical briefing where
many interesting things that we
had not a clue
Omega come up with.
There are a
lot
part that Omega
was the first
that I thought other brands
had done
before.
Today is the co-axial movement which are synonymous with Omega and the refined and come a long way.
The latest
co-axial
movements
do have a cruel
accuracy as
Omega soon came to the
conclusion that since no works
defaulted in the
COSC testsOmega wanted to
take it a step further.
When contacted by
METAS that will take
time accurate
deviation to a higher level,
after tests magnetization of
15,000 gauss
and then demagnetization,
boiling the
watch
with direct cooling with cold
water also tested
the water
proofness.
Since being tested
at the six
positions (5 of
COSC) and a
deviation of 0-5 seconds,
the watch is ready for METAS
to approve this.
When this test
is approved the movement is Master
Chronometer certified.
These watches comes with a
certificate in the form of
a plastic card.
As the owner can log in with at Omegas website.
And get all the test results of his watch.
After this interesting going through that it was time for a visit to the chief watchmaker who told us about the co-axial movement.
As seen here with all it's parts.
We even got to watch up close.
Then we got a going through of the difference in co-axial vs traditional.
And here we can see it in 3 levels to get a better understanding of the co-axial.
The day ended with
that we were told that we
passed the theory test and
was approved.
A big thanks to everyone involved at
The Swatch Group and especially
Claes Nilsson and Christer
Lindå.
